How to Update CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a crucial part of being a Chartered Accountant. All ICAZ members are required to log their CPD activities each year to remain in good standing.

The ICAZ system now allows you to update and record CPD hours online via the Member Portal. Follow this step-by-step guide:

Step-by-Step Guide to Submit CPD

  1. Log In to the ICAZ Member Portal:
Visit www.icaz.org.zw and sign in using your username and password. If you've forgotten your credentials, use the password reset or contact IT Support.
  2. Access the CPD Section:
After logging in, click on your name to refresh your profile.
Navigate to your dashboard and click on “CPDs" from the menu.

  1. Enter CPD Activities or Use Declaration Form:
    • For ICAZ CPD activities: Click the “+” or “Add CPD Hours” button. Enter activity details including title, date, and CPD hours (verifiable/non-verifiable).
    • If you’re a member of another body (e.g., ACCA): Scroll to the “Declaration Form” and click the “+” sign to fill a simplified CPD declaration.
  2. Complete the Form:
    • For Individual Activities: Choose activity type (e.g., course, webinar), enter topic name (e.g., “IFRS Update”), date attended, and hours.
    • Indicate whether the hours are Verifiable (certificate required) or Non-Verifiable. ICAZ requires at least 20 verifiable hours per year and 60 over a 3-year cycle.
    • For Declaration Form: Enter the name of your other professional body, membership number, and year of declaration.
  3. Save or Submit:
Click “Save” or “Submit” once your entry is complete. It will now reflect in your CPD list. You can repeat this process to add more activities.
  4. Submit Year-End Declaration:
By ICAZ’s annual deadline (usually 31 January), ensure all activities are logged. If prompted, click “Submit CPD for [Year]” to finalize your CPD compliance.

Monitoring and Support

  • Track Your CPD: Your dashboard will show a summary of hours logged for the current year and 3-year cycle.
  • CPD Audit: ICAZ may audit submissions. Keep evidence of all verifiable hours (e.g., certificates, webinar confirmations).
  • Technical Issues: If you can’t access CPD from abroad or encounter errors, try clicking your name again to refresh. Otherwise, contact technical@icaz.org.zw or itsupport@icaz.org.zw.
  • Offline Option: If portal issues persist, you may record hours in Excel and email the CPD department, though the preferred method is online submission.

Where to Find Help

ICAZ has detailed guidance in the PDF titled “ICAZ Continued Professional Development v2”, available on the website.
